ABOUT JENNIE R. SMITH
As a native Houstonian, I am proud to be practicing family law in my hometown. Although I primarily represent clients in Harris and surrounding counties, I have also handled cases in farther counties.
Prior to earning my Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law, I earned my bachelor’s degree in English from Baylor University and my master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from North Texas University. My specialized training and knowledge of the family dynamic, in addition to my knowledge of the law, allow me to provide my clients with uniquely comprehensive representation. My case work has included high-conflict custody and visitation issues, complex property issues, high net-worth divorces, child support, parentage issues, pre-marital and marital property agreements, and modification of child custody.
Despite the variety of issues and types of cases I have encountered in my practice, the common thread between each is that the cases involve lives in transition. I am honored to be a part of the team at the Law Office of Robert S. Hoffman, PLLC, where we are committed to helping our clients face life-altering transitions with integrity, experience, respect, and of course, results.
I have co-authored continuing legal education articles for the State Bar of Texas Advanced Family Law Course and for the Houston Bar Association. I have likewise been published as a co-author of articles by Hofstra Law Review and the Bureau of National Affairs.
I am a certified mediator, and my professional activities include having served on the Board of Directors of the Houston Bar Association Family Law Section and maintaining a membership with the American Inns of Court: Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Law Inn. In order to stay on the cutting edge, I have a commitment to exceeding the minimum continuing legal education required by the State Bar and because of this commitment, I am a member of the College of the State Bar.
Away from work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading, and playing the piano.
