“My strength and passion are for legal research, analyses, writing and briefing …”

I have practiced family law in Texas since earning my Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law in 1996. I joined Fulbright and Jaworski, L.L.P. as counsel and spent 12 years in the family law section. I was involved in cases with complex property issues, child custody and possession matters, and pre- and post-marital property agreements.

In January of 2009, I joined my former Fulbright partner to create the Law Office of Robert S. Hoffman.

My strength and passion are for legal research, analyses, writing and briefing skills. I was also successful appellate counsel on several appellate cases involving family law issues. In my previous firm, partners from the estate planning, probate, appellate and human resources sections of the firm, in Texas and other states, sought my skills on these matters.

I have co-authored continuing legal education articles for the Texas Marital Property Institute, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the Texas State Bar Advanced Family Law Course. I am active with the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program, providing pro bono legal services to the community.

I am a California transplant, having lived in both Southern California and San Francisco. I came to the practice of law after a career in finance with British Petroleum Exploration Company in California and then Texas. I enjoy ancient history, archeology, murder mysteries, and good food, music and conversation.
